Job Description
JOB PURPOSE The main responsibilities for this position are to work independently on the complex scenarios; end-to-end and integration testing; manage a small team and mentor people on the team. JOB RESPONSIBILITIES Architecture & Design o Prepares the technical design of the technology components within the module (one or more of client/web presentation tier, server tier, data access and data model, integration component, package function customization) o Participates in design reviews of other modules and provide insightful comments to improve the design quality and design conformance to standards o Implements slice of application (EAR) and proofs of concept (spike solution) to prove any new technologies or integration scenarios in the module o For package implementations, aids the Architect of the project to perform the gap analysis between business requirements and the package features and designs the configuration, customizations, extensions, interfaces required to meet the requirements o Provides innovative solutions to technical issues during the project that could impact one or more modules of the project Development o Implements (hands-on) the module components based on Sapient and industry best practices. These components could be custom built, or built using a third party tool and also could involve extending an industry package o Supports the module in production, resolves hot/critical issues and implements and deploys enhancements to the application/package o Works with/helps other team members to resolve technical issues that require deep technical expertise in core technology platforms or packages. Process Adherence o Defines the process for code reviews, DBCR, version management, tracker management etc. o Delivers in compliance with Sapient methodology, processes, tools and technology standards Planning Tracking & Estimation o May lead a small track (2-4 members) and is responsible for delivery of module he/she owns o Estimates the implementation of the module/track based on design architecture, testing strategy and overall project plan o Reports progress and issues to the Manager/Architect in a timely manner. in particular, to relay issues that might impact on quality or the ability to deliver to timescales or Estimates Documentation o Documents the technical design using UML, suitable design patterns in the form of technical design narrative, object models, sequence diagrams, collaboration diagrams Client Interaction o Interacts with a client (client senior developers and architects) to create technology specifications from business requirements for one or more modules within the project o In some scenarios, collaborates with client developers to design, build, test and deploy the module components and integrate with the rest of the modules o Raises and drives to closure with the client any technical design and implementation issues in the module and also in the interfaces and interactions with other modules SKILL REQUIREMENTS o Can program PL/SQL procedures / triggers using pre-built Oracle packages. Can build stored procedures to handle large volumes of data (more than 500K rows) and batch jobs. o Can create views, materialized view (with various refresh options) o Should have deep understanding of types of joins/indexes and should be able to choose best option based on scenario in hand. o Should have basic understanding of Error / Exception handling framework, o Should be able to talk about oracle functions (e.g. DECODE) o Should have basic understanding data modeling concepts (e.g. PK, FK, Normalization) o Can use data structures like ROWDATA, dynamic cursors and custom object types. o Has articulated PL/SQL features like dynamic code generation, email and file operations and handling HTTP protocol in common meeting and can train their team on the same. o Conducts core activities of planning and tracking such as managing the plan in terms of issue/dependency tracking and milestones. o May lead a small track (2-4 members) and is resoponsible for delivery of module he/she owns o Facilitates risk sessions with clients and Sapient team (if required) o Demonstrates a deep understanding of data modeling. o Able to own the Logical Data Model (LDM) and Physical Data Model (PDM). o Able to apply data de-normalization techniques to improve performance. o Demonstrates ability to carry out performance tuning using parallization, indexes, partition, Database optimization etc o Able to apply data modeling patterns. o Identifies best practices and standards for data modeling. Business Knowledge: Financial services domain experiences would be a plus. Personal Attributes: a. Strong and innovative approach to problem solving and finding solutions b.
